A Victory in Washington
February 09, 2010
Dear BSU Partners and Friends,
Kellie and I just returned from a trip to Washington, D.C.
We met with several legislators and other leaders of our Nation.
We also attended the President's Prayer Breakfast where we
visited with Christian leaders from around the world.
This e-mail is to celebrate a victory that we have been standing
for some time now. As you probably know a new structure has
been added alongside our Capitol known as the Capitol Visitors
Center. In that building you will find artifacts and historical
documents from the rich and varied past of our Nation. Also,
you will discover models of both the U.S. House of Representatives
and the U.S. Senate.
In the actual Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives
directly above the Speaker's chair are the words, In God We
Trust. However, in the version located in the Visitors Center
this was removed and replaced with a row of stars. Also, in
a photo of the same thing the words were photo shopped out.
In fact over 20 places within the visitors center references
to God or our Christian heritage were removed by the Architect
of the Capitol.
However, I'm happy to say that U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert and
99 other U.S. Congresspersons both Republican and Democrat
banned together and made such a statement of opposition to
these glaring and overt omissions of our past and current
history that the words...In God We Trust
were placed back in the Capitol Visitors Center. Praise the
Lord for this victory.

It is so important that people of faith across this Nation
remain vigilant and aware of what is going on around us and
then make our voices heard. I invite you to write or e-mail
your Congressperson and either thank them for helping to keep
our history alive and accurate in the U.S. Captiol or encourage
them to do so. If you don't know your representative you can
find him or her by visiting www.house.gov.
We'll talk again soon. Until then, stay strong and involved
with events around you and remember that Jesus Is Lord.
