More Opportunities to Stand for Prayer
August 24, 2009
Dear Friends,
Last week I wrote you about prayer being under attack in our Nation. Here are two more issues I want you to be aware of and I ask you to join me in getting involved.
1) In Pace, Florida about 10 miles from Pensacola, the High School Principal Mr. Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman are being sued for engaging in prayer. The basic issue is Mr. Lay invited Mr. Freeman to pray over a meal at a High School Booster club dinner. No students were in attendance as the dinner was for parents and donors to the athletic program. These school employees are being defended by lawyers from the Liberty Counsel but I ask you to do two things here:
2) In La Crosse, Wisconsin the City Counsel is debating the issue of prayer before their meetings. Like Lodi, California the Freedom From Religion organization is attempting to intimidate this local legislative body by stating prayer is unconstitutional. However, the U.S. Constitution grants the free exercise of religion to all people. Councilwoman Decker is standing up for prayer in her city and I ask you to help by doing the following:
- E-mail Mayor Mathias Harter and request he support the Constitutional right for prayer before his City Counsel meetings. harterm@cityoflacrosse.org
Thank you for standing with us for freedom and faith in the United States of America.
